LSUA Generals Booster Club [event]

This year’s first meeting of the LSUA Generals Booster Club will be Thursday (October 8th) at 6 p.m. at Niko’s Restaurant on campus. The annual $40 membership fee may be paid at the meeting. Membership also is available by calling Betsy Hayes at 473-6475. Plans for the spring banquet featuring former LSU coach Skip Bertman will be discussed at the meeting. An update on the new baseball/softball complex and the Feb. 2 opening ceremony and a progress report on fall practice for both teams also will be on the agenda. The Generals Booster Club meets on the second Thursday of each month.

Mini-Grant Writing Workshops [event]

Attention Staff!!!! As we go into the last year of Title III funding, we have another opportunity to award funds for professional development needs (including but not limited to travel). The purpose of the Mini-grant program is to give staff a chance to use the grant process to enhance their professional development, and improve the overall academic quality of the LSUA campus. In order to maximize your chances, I will offer two Mini-Grant Writing Workshops, one on Friday October 23 from 12:00 TO 1:00 and one on Tuesday October 27 from 12:00 to 1:00. These workshops will be held in the new Faculty Center in the Bolton Library. You do not have to attend in order to submit a proposal, however, these workshops are designed to answer your questions an assist you in your applications. Please note the deadline for submission of your mini-grants: NOVEMBER 13, 2009

Opening Reception for Vntage Photography Exhibit presented by the University Gallery [event]

In October, the University Gallery will present a vintage photography exhibit of the historic public buildings of Rapides Parish. The opening reception will be held on Friday October 23, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. An informal concert of piano music will be presented from 6:00 – 6:30, with a Gallery Talk from 6:30 – 7:00. This event is free and open to the public. For those who are Alexandria natives, the exhibit will provide you with many memories. For others, this should provide particular insight into the development of Alexandria. Regardless, this exhibit promises to have something for everyone. We invite you to join us on October 23rd.

Mini-Grant Writing Workshop [event]

Attention Staff!!!! As we go into the last year of Title III funding, we have another opportunity to award funds for professional development needs (including but not limited to travel). The purpose of the Mini-grant program is to give staff a chance to use the grant process to enhance their professional development, and improve the overall academic quality of the LSUA campus. In order to maximize your chances, I will offer two Mini-Grant Writing Workshops, one on Friday October 23 from 12:00 TO 1:00 and one on Tuesday October 27 from 12:00 to 1:00. These workshops will be held in the new Faculty Center in the Bolton Library. You do not have to attend in order to submit a proposal, however, these workshops are designed to answer your questions an assist you in your applications. Please note the deadline for submission of your mini-grants: NOVEMBER 13, 2009

Travel Course: New Orleans Day Trip [event]

Tickets are $45 and are available for purchase to LSUA students and to community members. Children who are seven years of age or older are welcome provided they have adult supervision. Ticket price covers transportation and admission to museum and theater; food and drink are not included. LSUA students should register and purchase tickets before 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28. Community members can purchase tickets from 8:00 AM, Wednesday, October 14 to 4:30 PM, Wednesday, October 28. Bus leaves at 7:00 AM on Saturday from the parking lot opposite the LSUA Student Center and will return to the same location by 2:30 AM on Sunday.
