LSUA Softball Finishes National Tournament in Third

Another great season by LSUA Softball.

The extraordinary year had by LSUA Athletics continued with another record setting campaign, this time by the LSUA softball team.

The Generals played their way into the NAIA World Series and earned a #5 seed in the national tournament. LSUA got as far as the semifinal matchup before falling by a score of 4-2 in the elimination bracket.

However, the Generals broke the program’s single season record for wins, besting the 2015 team’s mark with a record of 52-10 in 2017. That 2015 team was the only other Generals team to pick up a win at the Softball World Series before bowing out with one victory. This year’s squad finishes 3-2 in the World Series and third overall in the tournament.

"What a magical season it's been," said LSUA head coach Jerry Breaux. "We knew we had a special bunch and they made it happen. This crop of seniors has left a positive, lasting legacy, leading this program to two World Series appearances. The younger players got a taste of this big stage and I'm sure that'll help keep the torch burning. We couldn't have asked for a better way to cap off the celebration of the tenth year of our program and the LSUA athletic department as a whole, breaking numerous records, including a new mark for wins in a single season. It really was a spectacular season."

The year has now wrapped up for all of LSUA athletics, but there is a bright future in store for all the teams.
