LSUA is once again named as a top institution for graduates with the least amount of debt.

Once again, LSUA is being recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top institutions in the nation for students with the least amount of debt upon graduation.

LSUA ranks in the top twenty of national liberal arts colleges when it comes to the least amount of debt.

According to U.S. News & World Report, only 58 percent of LSUA graduates leave college with debt, down from 61 percent from 2016. The average amount of that debt is $20,817.

LSUA was the only Louisiana institution to be recognized by the magazine for having students graduate with low amounts of debt.

“LSUA understands the importance of providing an affordable, high quality education that does not burden our students with debt after they earn their degree. The university continues to work hard to make LSUA accessible and achievable for all,” says LSUA Chancellor Guiyou Huang.

According to the Institute for College Access and Success, the average amount of debt for Louisiana college graduates is $26,865. The nationwide average is $30,100.

“The Office of Financial Aid works with all of our students and parents to show them the numerous financial options that are available. In addition to the federal loans that are available, LSUA offers numerous scholarships and payment plans that can help with the cost of college,” says Director of Financial Aid Jeff Massey.

The data collected by U.S. News & World Report includes loans taken out by students from their colleges, private financial institutions and from federal, state, and local governments.

Additionally, LSUA was recognized by the magazine as placing in the second tier of all national liberal arts colleges. National liberal arts colleges are those that award at least half their degrees in the arts and sciences, which include disciplines such as English, biological and physical sciences, history, foreign languages and performing arts.
